Is a Golden Retriever a large breed dog?
When you picture a Golden Retriever, you might imagine a friendly face and a wagging tail. But what about their size? Indeed, Golden Retrievers are classified as a large breed. They’re not the biggest dogs on the block, but they’re certainly not lap dogs either. Adult males typically weigh between 65-75 pounds / 30-35 kg, while females are slightly lighter at 55-65 pounds / 25-30 kg. They stand tall too, with males reaching up to 24 inches / 61 cm at the shoulder and females up to 22.5 inches / 58 cm.
